Signed and initialed in lower left RAN IN-TING FORMOSA. A deep onyx reverse painted and gilt interior mat technique called eglomise which is highly prized is the interior matting style. A sparse classical gilt finished corner frame surrounds the image. Ran In-ting (1903 1979), also known as Lan Yinding, is one of the country's most imminent watercolorist. His work is internationally recognized for his regional landscape and the essence of his subjects.
